Hunte's Gardens

Tranquility, serenity, peace of mind combined with breathtaking beauty… if this is what your heart desires, then you’ll be more than satisfied when you visit Hunte’s Gardens centrally located on the island at Castle Grant, St. Joseph.

Surrounded by the stunning beauty of numerous varieties of plant life, you can enjoy a leisurely walk between the majestic palm trees, which were planted some 150 years ago.  This beauty of a garden has been ornately designed, and exudes the love which has gone into its creation by its owner, Mr. Anthony Hunte.

Explore the very picturesque gardens via the easy-to-walk path which offers many surprises, thanks to the superbly created series of mini-gardens embedded within the main large unit, combining vibrant colours and textures of rare exotic plants to offer you a most uplifting and fulfilling experience.

As you enjoy a leisurely walk through the gardens, you will discover up to 84 of the listed items as found on the large board - located at the bottom of the garden paths and many of the more unlisted ones as you will!  A printed handout is also available for reference as you walk.

There’s ample opportunity to find your privacy and relax on one of the garden benches cosily hidden among the greenery.  Feel free to go at your own pace in this self-guided tour of enchantment with botany and nature.  You can also meet and converse with others at the top house.

On your enchanting journey through gardens, you’ll meet the creator of this gem of a place: Anthony Hunte who we’re sure will entertain you with fascinating stories.  You can also enjoy the refreshments available including rum punch, and a selection of teas, coffees and cakes which can additionally be purchased.
